I would think that Duke has liability issues, as well. It was Duke U that fired the Lacrosse coach and in cancelling the season, slandered the team.

As to Nifong, it would make me feel really good if he ended up homeless and unemployable...and, generally, I don't ever feel that vindictive...even when it's called for.

Duke may have bigger fish to fry after tonight broadcast. That one program may cost them a number of application or enrollment of accepted students. I bet they go further down their waiting list this year.

I do too. I smell at least one lawsuit here, judging by the statements of the parents. And they deserve it. In addition, Duke owned the property where the incident occured at the time of the incident.

I think the president of Duke has handled this contemptibly on the whole, but in the 60 Minutes interview he did make one point which seemed valid--at the time he cancelled the lacrosse season, all of the teammates (except for the one black player) were potential defendants.

Nifong indicted two players one month after the charges were made, and the third one two months after, and in the meantime the other players didn't know if they would be singled out or not--since none of them was guilty of anything, no one could take comfort in being innocent (or even in being able to prove they weren't present at the party).

Of course, that doesn't explain why Broadbent fired the lacrosse coach...that certainly implied a presumption of guilt on his part.

The 60 Minutes program didn't say anything about the Gang of 88 on the Duke faculty, perhaps because doing that would highlight the let-the-facts-be-damned attitude on the part of the Durham black community and the Duke faculty feminists.
