DEPAKOTE is approved for the treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder. A manic episode is a distinct period of abnormally and persistent elevated and irritable mood that may also involve aggressive behavior.
DEPAKOTE is also approved to help people with epilepsy manage their seizures. DEPAKOTE is an epilepsy drug for adults and children over 10 years old. It is approved to treat the following types of epileptic seizures: Complex partial seizures in adults and children down to the age of 10, and simple and complex absence seizures.
Additionally, DEPAKOTE is prescribed for the prevention of migraine headaches.
