I think I saw something about how prince philip (is that liz's husbands name?) threatened to withdraw from the marriage if he wasn't allowed to serve during WWII, or something like that.

Prince Philip served in the Royal Navy during WWII. However, he married the future queen in 1947, and before the marriage he was simply a very minor member of the Greek and Danish royal families, so I think your info is bad.
