Oh, now I see - Tony's brother and family live near Beaufort now. OK.
The "leak" from "a source" that upset me so much the other day was the one that caused the sheriff to issue his statement.
It was implied in that leak that Shawn had to be the one holding the gun and doing the duct taping of Ben while Devlin drove. The leaked rumor *said* Devlin was driving while this was going on.
However, some recent Kirkwood neighbor statements have included people who saw Devlin teaching Shawn to drive AND who saw Shawn driving Devlin's truck on his own.
Leads me to believe that if Shawn were in the truck when Ben was grabbed, he *may* have been driving while Devlin did the dirty work.
If you thought you'd be killed, anyway, you'd do the same - which is what the other cops had said about this before the gag order.
I do not believe Shawn grabbed Ben. How can a 15 yr old have the strength to grab a 13 yr old, throw him into the truck, throw him onto the floor and duct tape him. I am sure Ben put up a fight. Does not make sense. Shawn may have been driving but he is not the one that did the act of kidnapping.
If Shawn helped Devlin in anyway it was because he was under duress. But you know some people are simply going to see and peg Shawn as a future Devlin because of what Devlin put him through. Many people will not be able to see past or around their own tunnel vision. Everyday of his life he will have to deal with people like this including people in his own hometown. There will be people who will freak if they see him near their children and so on. It is sad and the boy deserves to only be treated as a victim and with nothing but respect at this time. Hopefully he will get the treatment he needs and that he will come out of this ok.
The boy has as hard road ahead of him and I think he will come out being ok and very normal in the end. I am at least praying for that.
