Dr. Sanjay Gupta is senior medical correspondent for the health and medical unit at CNN. Gupta, a practicing neurosurgeon and an assistant professor of neurosurgery, plays an integral role in the network's medical coverage, which includes daily packages, the half-hour weekend show House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and coverage of breaking medical news. Based in Atlanta, he also co-hosts Accent Health for Turner Private Networks, provides medical segments for the syndicated version of ER on TNT, contributes health news stories to CNN.com, writes a column for TIME magazine and recently launched a weekly podcast on iTunes called "Paging Dr. Gupta."
Gupta has been published in a variety of scientific journals and has received numerous accolades. His health reports swept all three health and medical awards in 2006 – the first year the National Headliner Awards honored such journalism in a dedicated category.

Gupta began his career as a marketing research analyst for the Commodore Corporation, a mobile home manufacturer in Omaha, Nebraska, where he created a list of sales leads by requesting a copy of every Yellow Pages book in the United States. He gave the list to his employer with the agreement that he could sell the list to competitors, an arrangement that led to the launch, shortly thereafter, of infoUSA.
Today, the company, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska and with annual revenue of $311.3 million, compiles the industry’s largest and most accurate consumer and business databases, accessed by more than four million customers nationwide.
Gupta holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India. He received an M.S. in engineering in 1969 and an M.B.A. in 1971, both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
