OMAHA (AP) -- First lady Hillary Clinton came to town to raise money for her New York Senate campaign. But she spent most of her time in Borsheim's Fine Jewelry and Gifts shopping for china and silverware for her house in New York.
Clinton visited Thursday for a $1,000-per-person fund-raiser, held at the home of InfoUSA founder Vinod Gupta. She raised about $100,000 for her campaign. The event was closed to the public and the news media.
Clinton spent most of her 5 1/2-hour trip with Omaha billionaire Warren Buffett, co-host of the fund-raiser and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, owner of Borsheim's.
The first lady spent about two hours in the store with Buffett and reportedly left with three shopping bags.
Buffett said he was not surprised that Clinton sought campaign support in Omaha, saying it is emerging as a regular campaign stop for politicians.
"Plenty of our candidates go to New York for campaign funds," he said. "This is only fair."
