Officers said they're not sure what Olivarres-Castro's intentions were once the other driver was stopped.

Exactly my question.

"The driver admitted he was acting like the police trying to pull over the other motorist because he felt the driver was driving crazy, erratic," said La Vista Lt. D.J. Barcal. "The concern is anyone could be pulled over under the assumption they're being pulled over by a legitimate law enforcement official."

More like planning to extort the driver for a "ticket".

If you impersonate an American citizen, nobody cares.

"he showed a Mexican consulate card,"

WTF?!?!?

For those who don't know what this is, it's the documentation on...(wait for it)....an 'undocumented worker'...
The only documentation sits in ol' Mejico

From http://www.migrationinformation.org/feature/display.cfm?ID=115

For the estimated 8.5 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, day-to-day life has always been precarious. Not only do they not have the legal right to live and work in America, but many cannot prove their own identity. Lack of identification prevents undocumented immigrants from accessing the few public and private services that are available to them and intensifies their fear of contact with police and other official institutions. The events of September 11 and the scrutiny of undocumented immigrants that followed deepened this anxiety. In this light, many of the estimated 4.7 million Mexicans living in the US without authorization turned to a little-known Mexican government identity document called the matrícula consular. The ID cards have given undocumented immigrants a sense of security but have been received with mixed reactions by public and private institutions.
....
Beginning in early 2002, Mexico enhanced the security provisions of the matrícula and the process used to issue it. It also conducted a well-organized campaign to educate US banks, police departments, and governments about the new features and encourage them to accept the matrícula as a valid form of identification. The campaign targeted two fundamental needs of undocumented Mexican immigrants: the ability to identify oneself to local law enforcement and the ability to access financial services in order to save and remit money.

Was the driver of the car he was trying to pull over a woman or young girl? If so I hope they look into his background well. I would think setting up your car to pull people over is impersonating a police officer and who knows what he was really up to. They need to find out and see if anyone is missing or has been robbed by this guy or worse.

What?! Now the jack-booted thugs have some exclusionary right to strobe lights in their grills? When law-abiding citizens have their strobe lights confiscated, only criminals will have strobe lights. Are we going to lay down and give up all our rights... er, Lights?! What's next? We won't be able to hang our head out the window and go, "WOOOOOOOO-WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

Sheesh, bunch of boot-lickers.... The guy was taking it upon himself to enforce the laws because the police were too busy across the street in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot. He shouldn't be facing jail time and loss of strobe lights, he should be given a medal!

I'll bet he was Racially profiling other illegals (not hard to do in Nebraska) that wouldn't go to the cops.

Maybe they can charge him with that, too.

An illegal alien (AKA a Mexican national) enforcing the laws Americans won't enforce.
You can't make this stuff up . . . .

A few things that did not make the local TV report...
Subject could barely speak English when interviewed by another local TV station.
Search of police records showed that the subject had been stopped and cited 6 previous times for driving w/o a license.
Bought the flashing blue lights at a local auto parts store.
Area where 'stop' occurred is very dark and rural for the most part - not a good place to be pulled over.

Sad to say, I am starting to learn more Spanish... seems most of the contract housekeeping crew at my employment is of 'foreign origin'. The crew leader is an African-American woman who has been there for years and is having to learn Spanish just to keep her crew pointed in the right direction.. She tells us it's hard for someone in her age group (late 50's) to adjust.. They are good workers - she just has to keep on her toes so they don't mix the wrong two cleaners together and gas all of us..
