It is pretty hard to take a team too seriously for the National Championship when they schedule teams like Sacramento State.

Now that BSU has the attention of the voters, they need to demonstrate that this season was not just a fluke. That may be a tough pill to swallow, but those are the facts of life in NCAA football. Congratulations on a great season and probably the most exciting win in NCAA football history.

How many SEC teams play non-conference road games?

Florida plays FSU on the road every other year. They also play Georgia in Jacksonville every year in "The Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party".

Boise State would be an average team in the SEC, ACC, Pac 10 or Big 10.

Here is my BCS formula:

Get the SEC Champion to play a "champion" from any of the lesser conferences.

Please, Notre Dame was over-rated simply because Charlie Weis took over as head coach. As long as teams get ranked by reputation of glory old by the sports writers, which is subjective there is still a reasonable doubt. That's okay with me. It's college football.

There is no chance for a cinderella story in the current format. It's not possible.

Top 8 play off. Wisconsin. Number 2. Wisconsin beat both Ark and Auburn, but lost a tough one to Mi. Did BSU play any of those teams during their regular season?

Wisconsin was not impressive in the Arkansas game. Arkansas, I hate to say, was over-rated, has bad play-calling, has serious internal crap, and is one-dimensional, and Wisconsin struggled to win that one in unimpressive fashion and had ugly stats. They were better than Arkansas, but thats not saying anything.

South Carolina plays Clemson every year too. Forgot about those old traditional games.

SEC teams have scheduled home and aways with teams from other conferences. In recent years, Arkansas has played Texas and Southern Cal. We also played Boise St. several years ago, though I don't remember if we played them at their house. I can't remember who, but someone else in the SEC had a biggie this year too.

No SEC has EVER played Boise State on the road. I think the SEC had a 40-8 distribution of home/road OOC games this year, with most of the road games ACC/SEC state rivalry games.

I don't mean to pick on the SEC as the other power conferences as just as guilty. With the money inequity in college football, scheduling philosophy is not going to change, especially when Alabama pays for Nick Saban like they did. Either have a playoff or don't declare a national champ at all.

Doesn't work that way. Arkansas beat Auburn. Auburn beat Florida. Florida beat Arkansas. Life in the SEC baby. THAT's why the Gators deserve what they've got. They had to slug out week after week.

Yeah, its good to see things work out so that its able to be proven on the field. That is not always the case with the SEC beating up on each other.

Remainder of field at-large (use any method you choose).

As long as you have an "at large" field, the human factor is in it and somebody is going to bitch and moan that they got shafted. Take your system and modify as follows: 16 conferences of 16 teams (256 teams total).

Each conference has two divisions.

Conference championship game is round one of playoffs.

Only conference champions advance to round two.

If you cannot win your own conference, you do not deserve to be National Champion.

Dude, B.st played UGA in 2005, lost 48-13.

2005 game. This is the 2006-2007 season. BTW -- Georgia do the same in the re-match AT Boise State ?

Boise won one of the best games I've ever seen, but they aren't national champions. Get over it.

The 11-1 or better rule gives a mechanism for every team to qualify AUTOMATICALLY. If you lose 2 games (or schedule too many 1-AA teams), then you put your fate in the hands of a selection committee. This rule is why I slate 16 teams, as 8 is too few and any number in-between causes other problems.

Is BS U a junior college or a full-fledged university?

Exactly -- zero chance in the b.s. format. Would Boise State win four in my format -- we will never know. At least a playoff gives all 119 teams a shot.

B.st Versus SEC all-time

B.st - Arkansas 0-2
B.st - Georgia 0-1
B.st - S.C. 0-1

Happy?

Meaning that BEFORE last night no reasonable person would have had any other team but Ohio State as No. 1 after the regular season.
