(Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were guarding the Mexican border near El Paso on February 17, 2005 when they intercepted a van carrying 743 pounds of marijuana. For what happened next, they were convicted and sentenced under a statute that was designed to impose heavy punishment on criminal drug smugglers caught in the commission of a crime.)

Their crime? Border Patrol must get permission to pursue, Ramos and Jose Compean did their duty without calling for permission first. In Iraq, pretty much the same thing is happening. It stands to reason that the NG must get permission first to fire on invaders. This is an outrage, just unbelievable. If you have not called or faxed your senators, congressmen or the White House, please do so right now. Texans should be up in arms over this and the court responsible for this utter travesty of justice.

I thought we had "Officers" in the military who were able able to make decisions and be backed by the military, simply because they were "Officers". From how the military has behaved and conducted themselves in Iraq, we know they are the real deal, and I have extreme confidence in those in uniform.
