A former Duke Lacrosse player has filed a lawsuit against the University saying he was failed by an professor because of his membership on the lacrosse team.
I'm sure they'll be running to the presses with their "oops, we were wrong, sorry" statements any day now.
I can't even find anything about her at U.Mass. Amherst, e.g., what professor sponsored her Ph.D. papers. Interestingly, the CV on Duke's Web site is quite vague. So she has a BA and a Ph.D. but in what? There are no references. Her entire publishing experience...she wrote alone. The only other information I could trace about Kim Curtis was some letters to the editor over the past three to four years in The News & Observer.
"On days marked with an asterix * your thought pieces are due in class. Note: there are 11 asterixes.
Hmm, asterix... Think she means the comic book?"
Her course description appears to have been written after much consultation with "Gettafix".
Soon, a lawyer channeling Obelix will deal with her.
Yep - she's a comic book character in her own right.
Before the scandal broke, the suit said, both players were passing the course. But after the rape case made news, both players failed the final assignment, the suit said, and Dowds final grade was an F. The players were the only ones to receive Fs, the suit said.
Duke initially refused to entertain arguments by Dowd that the grade was unfair, the suit said, but eventually agreed to accept credits that Dowd had earned earlier at Johns Hopkins University. That allowed him to graduate, the suit said, but then Duke changed the F to a D, citing a calculation error.
Let me take this opportunity to request a prayer for Scotty Glacken, my old coach, who passed away a few days ago. He was a standout Duke QB in the 60s, then played for the Broncos a few years. Duke must have been a better place then.
Wow - with a course syllabus like that - if a student shot just themself in the head, they'd get an "A" (if such activities are still graded, of course). You know that these clowns just laugh all the way to the bank foisting crap on young-minds-of-mush. And to think - our universities used to be the envy of the world.
'Sue the panties off her.'
You should be banned from free republic for making the suggestion. I should report you for abuse. Did you not see her picture? Are you some kind of sicko? Do you not understand that womyn like her do not ware panties?
I'll give you one chance to take it back, otherwise I will make you listen to her being interviewed by Terry Gross...
I wonder how much longer Coach K is going to put up with the crap at Duke?
Opps, wear (wrong ware)
They definitely don't deserve him.
The inmates are running the asylum my friend, these kind of courses aren't elective. If you think you can *avoid* this kind of philosophical masturbation, you'd be wrong.
I shall start refering to prisons as "gated communities."
The rest I don't want to even try to understand.
Is the plaintiff requesting a lynching of the "professor" as an element of settlement?
Maybe they should.
According to the complaint, there were four components to the final grade (each worth 25%): 3 papers plus class participation. Dowd earned grades of C on his first two papers. Even assuming that the instructor was justified in giving Dowd grades of F on the third paper and on his class participation, there is no way that 2 C's and 2 F's (all of equal weight) can add up to an F. Yet according to the complaint, it took Duke several months to recognize that the instructor had made a "computational" error on Dowd's final grade.

The word feminist is used 3 times in her bio. Why would anyone with more than a miligram of testosterone in their systems even take her class? Shows poor judgement.
Ironically, this incident will harm the University far more than the accused players when all is said and done.
(a) It may be specifically required, or
(b) It is taken as an easy fullfillment of a general requirement. Write BS papers copied from the pages of CPUSA Daily Worker and you pass.
