Scroll down to article:
NABJ president Bryan Monroe tells Philadelphia Inquirer publisher Brian Tierney: "Of the 71 names on your latest layoff list, we understand that as many as 14-16 of the journalists targeted are African-American, or as much as 22.5% of the layoffs. That percentage is nearly double the proportion of blacks in the newsroom at the Inquirer, which was 11.3% in 2006."
Everything is viewed through a racial, gender or sexual prism by these people. Everything.
Har! The racist Democrats see EVERYTHING through a racial prism.
Wow. I should have read the posts before I replied.
I basically said exactly what you said.
As you obviously know...the TRUTH is not seen by all.
Many of us can see it as plain as day, though.
All the newspapers are suffering from brain drain.
Now all those with no discernible talent who want to be rich and famous, go directly to "American Idol," instead of wasting years as an editorial assistant.
More than likely just winnowing out the deadwood, that's what most companies do during layoff time.
Iunderstand that this paper was actally bought by a Republican. I wonder if this is the real issue.
Hewy- here's a novel idea- how about allowing the company to fire those less qualified REGARDLESS of color? Nah- the government has to step in and micro-manage businesses for them- Free enterprise? Don't bet on it http://sacredscoop.com

From what I read yesterday it is 40 months- not to say that the article I read was correct- but that's what it said- I actually should know this because I'm on dissability and needed to have worked a certain amount of time- but I can't remember what it was now- too long ago lol
Does a business owner have the right to hire/fire whom he/she wishes?
Obviously not.
I've stated somewhere else that I knew people working at the competing paper owned by Gannett. I was told that Gannett didn't advance white men inside their organization. For the few years I was working in the industry in that area, that was what I observed.
Let me guess --- they had to fire the token conservative.
