Almost 100 classmates marched against the Duke 3, ASSuming they were guilty till proven innocent. After all, we all know what athletes are like...right?
The Black Panther POS's made public, loud death threats against the players in open court. The BPPs were not arrested and charged-in fact, I'm not sure if they were even escorted from court.
Black people make up almost half the population of Durham. And from the reports out of Durham, some don't even care if the players are guilty or not. They just want white guys to go to prison to make up for past racial wrongs against blacks.
Given Nifong's election, it appears that this sentiment seems to be held by a fairly large proportion of the town's black citizenry.
If they go back to campus, I would not be at all surprised to hear of their assault, stabbing, or shooting at the hands of unknown "assailants".
They'd be fools to go back.
PS The university's offer was given as an attempt to head off any lawsuits against it. The Duke 3 would also be fools to let that influence them.
Which is exactly why they should refuse this. There are significant legal bills to be paid. And there are certainly better colleges.
