The people who you say haven't followed this as closely are not at all likely to recognize Finnerty at a new campus, right? I've seen their mugshots and student pics a lot, but I don't think I could ever pull them out of a lineup much less notice them as they walked across campus grounds between classes.
I'm sure someone in the media will reveal that the students have enrolled at other colleges. They still have a fine chance at becoming anonymous if they choose to.
Still, I'd get the flashy Ferrari if it were me as long as someone else was paying for it. I'd also let it be known on campus that if I caught anyone spreading malicious information about me regarding the Duke case, my lawyers would get involved.
All it takes is for one person to recognize him. Word travels fast. As someone else pointed out he'll never be anonymous again. On Duke's campus it'll be easier to deal with his notoriety.
