The author fails to understand the stark realities of urban life that can cause a person to spay bullets in a drive-by at a strecth hummer by de club. (sarcasm)

And then when someone makes good of themselves and survives the war-zone they grew up in the "leaders" want them to "give-back" to the community that tried to murder them (Give-back = handouts to Sharpton, Jackson, et al.)

Actually when they do make it out of the inner city, they are labeled as Uncle Tom's or Republican lap dogs. To think that some prefer their children grow up to be like Al Sharpton rather than Colin Powell never ceases to amaze me.

We DO need to give back. But "give back" means (to me) being an example of perseverance, responsibility and positivity. It means showing young black people that the way out is education and entrepeneurism (legal). It means knowing that you owe yourself something, the government doesn't owe you anything (other than maintaining a standing army to protect your rights)
