Well, the Ford family had no control as to when the former president died, but if I had been them, I would have waited until after the holiday to hold any form of services.
In my opinion, it is unreasonable to expect people to just drop whatever their plans are, when on Tuesday everyone would have been back in Washington.
Not a matter of disrespect on outsider's part at all.

I did hear on Fox a short time ago, that Bush would deliver the eulogy at the National Cathedral. I don't know, maybe his family felt it would be better for Betty to get on with it. She looks pretty feeble.

That's quite a leap of faith to assume that family members who have just lost a beloved spouse, father, uncle...whatever, really gives a s**t what the media and the naysayers think. Those who are bitching about it probably cheer when the liberal wonks disrupt funerals of fallen soldiers.
Just let the man rest in peace, and let the FAMILY decide what is appropriate and what is not.

Well, the Ford family had no control as to when the former president died, but if I had been them, I would have waited until after the holiday to hold any form of services. He died 12/26. What you're suggesting would have resulted in a gap of almost two weeks between his death and burial.
I'm not sure it was intended this way, but your comments sound callous and disrespectful.
