"...forge together and FIGHT like hell to get the party back in power; and if we have to do it without the whiners, so be it."

I'm not in bed yet and I want to sign up. How do we do this and still have a whole country?

Oh, maybe I can drop by sometime. I can't usually participate in graphics-heavy threads because of my dial-up, so I haven't been there.

Someday when I have some patience, I'll try. It has been in short supply the past few, tho, thanks to outside interference! Thanks for the clarification.

People here cry paying $4.00/pack. I can just imagine what you in NJ goes through.
Feb. 1 a county tax goes into effect to fund, get this, THE ARTS. That will raise prices 35 cents/pack more.
In my store right now my highest priced cigs are $5.20. Soon that will be $5.55. In every other county in the state of Ohio, that same pack of cigs will run about $4.90.

I know it. Looking on the web, my goodness he has been a busy actor. I had no idea he was still acting. He was in Black Hawk Down, Babylon 5, Walker Texas Ranger, Armageddon, J.A.G. and When Harry Met Sally just to name a few.

I think I may have posted this where you've seen it before, but your post evokes its memory and it's fitting to say it again, I think. I hired a South Vietnamese refugee who, with her family, was on the last plane to make it out of Saigon. Her father was a colonel in the SVN army and the family was sure to be massacred if they stayed. Her stories were harrowing, to say the least. She was one of the best employees I ever hired, even though she had a ways to go on being a clear speaker of English when she came to work with us. But she threw herself into the work, and took evening classes on her own to get up to speed more quickly. Washington State, where I lived at the time, received a lot of Vietnamese refugees. Every one of them that I have met has been an excellent addition to America.

A contingent of people pretty much blocked any view he had.

Maica and I got to the WWII Memorial at about 4:30. A gentleman asked if we were veterans, perhaps because of our American flags. When I told him that I had been, at various times, a Navy junior, Navy wife and Navy mom, he gave us tickets to stand inside the memorial. We were standing a bit north of the color guard with a clear view of 17th street.

Just as the official cars came, two elderly gentlemen stood up from their front row folding chairs in front of us. They deserved the spot, as they were probably WWII vets themselves. We could still see between them.

The Presidential hearse stopped directly in front of us for the piping by the Navy chief. We could see the stripes of the flag covering the casket. It was very moving.

After all the official cars had passed, the boy scouts, in short sleeves, marched by. They were very impressive. Though it was about 50 degrees, they were very dignified. The people were all well behaved and respectful. It was a fine tribute to an American leader and patriot.

Precisely.

That's a very interesting exchange that went on on that thread.

More people around here should read it.

This has been a good thread. Thanks for the ping. I watched all of the services for President Ford. May he rest in peace. God bless Mrs. Ford and her family.
