The long and short of it is that Nifong is toast. The next time this comes before a Superior Court judge, Nifong and his entire office will be disqualified from prosecuting the matter.

Once that happens, it all likelihood, the N.C. Attorney General's Office will take over the matter. What happens then is not clear. We cannot rule out the possibility that the strumpet who started this mess will suddenly get more amnesia. She can't be looking forward to getting cross examined by these very good lawyers that these defendants have. It is altogether possible that the AG's office will take what evidence there is, throw it up to a jury, let the defendants' lawyer have their way with the prosecution witness and expect that either the judge will dismiss the case at the close of the State's evidence or that the jury will laugh the woman out of Court. Whoever does get the job of prosecuting this case is bound to sit down with the prosecuting witness and tell her with great relish what she can expect to face on cross examination in an effort to induce amnesia and end the case the easiest way possible for AG's office.

Of course if the AG had any ba**s he would dismiss the charges as soon as he got the case, but I don't think that he is that well endowed. At least he won't hide evidence and he won't be spouting off to every news outlet he can find.

Anyway, back to Nifong. Instead of waiting to get removed from the case, he may see that he has no choice and that he asks the AG's office to take over. I expect that his license may be suspended on the pending complaint against him and he may be disbarred when the other shoe drops. If he continues to prosecute this case, he opens himself up to a third charge of going forward when he has a clear conflict of interest.

Once his license is suspended he becomes disqualified to be the DA or at least functioning as DA. He will either resign or get removed from office.

He will probably go to work for Hillary Clinton then.

Let's see:

1. I doubt this case lasts through next week. This is too big a problem for NC now.

2. Mangum was never going to testify. She did not really start this. She merely cried rape to get out of a tight spot. The Duke leftist and Nifong started this.

3. Nifong is so egotistical that will want to appear to drop this himself and not have the judge or whomever gets it next to drop the case. Of course he is also very stuborn. It will be interesting to see how these competing aspects of Nifong, ego v. stubornness, play out this coming week.

4. I have read that the NC AG is a Dim who might want to run for Senate or Governor. So I doubt he allows this case to be kicked up to him as it would be a lose lose situation for him.

5. I wonder if even Dims can publically hire Nifong after this?

Nah. He will be off the case but not suspended. He will win the next election and remain DA. (See my post #23)
