The Drop Broke Saddam's neck killing him instantly. At the executions following the Nuremberg Trials others were not so lucky.

Ribbentrop and Sauckel each took 14 minutes to choke to death, while Keitel, whose death was the most painful, struggled for 24 minutes at the end of the rope before expiring..."

Now its important to cremate the body and bury the cremains in an unmarked grave in a classified location.
It would be a gross error to allow any possible of a shrine to Saddam, or a rallying point for the enemy. Dead Saddam is still an enemy, and one which could be as deadly in death as he was in life.
