What was your screen name when you objected to the "hate crime" doubt concerning Matthew Shepard?

We have learned a lot since then.

For instance, Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson, Shepard's murderers, in an interview with "20/20's" Elizabeth Vargas said that money and drugs motivated their actions that night, not hatred of gays.

But, hey, why let a little thing like "we were right!" "told you so!" get in the way of a beautiful friendship?

I can't speak to the responses re:Matthew Shepard's murder because I wasn't involved with FR. However, I have seen the fairness of the Moderator, and can only conclude that your were extremely out of line so as to be banished.

Do you find it horrific that Saddam committed the henious acts that he did? Are you in favor of justice for his victims? Well, that is what he is going to get. And the majority of Iraqis will rejoice as they did when they were liberated. If you find our jubilation over the eradication of evil so offensive, perhaps you would be better served on Daily Kos or MoveOn.org's sites. As for me, I'm popping the champaign.

Sympathy for the devil? Get off your high horse. What is it about tyrants getting their just desserts that upsets some people? And it's extremely amusing and ironic, that certain internuts who spend their days insulting and dishing others, get their knickers in a twist when FReepers justly enjoy an evil man like Saddam get what he deserves. To equate the murder of Matthew Shepherd and any low-brow, insensitive comments that might have been posted at that time with the dark humor expressed, by the American people who have sacrificed their blood and treasure to make the whole world a little safer by shutting him and his sons down, PERMANENTLY, over the impending judgment of a mass killer who supported and funded terrorism against his neighbors and Americans overseas... is truly a stretch. I don't know of anyone on FreeRepublic who "rejoiced" in the death of Matthew Shepherd, though I recognize that he was a criminal who attacked/tried to steal from the two assailants, and they overreacted and were found criminally guilty of attacking him.

Certainly doesn't excuse the murder.

So, let's review the standards of this great moral light of FR. The following people are to be mocked as a genuine laugh riot:

1. People who die slowly from heavy metal poisoning (extra laughs if you accuse them of shoving large objects up their anus and work in an irrelevant ethnic slur!)

2. Innocent people who freeze to death while climbing a mountain. Extra points if you accuse them of pretending to die as a publicity stunt.

The following people are off limits and must never be mocked:

Evil scumbags who caused the deaths of somewhere between 1 and 2 million people, including several thousand small children who died horrible deaths. If you dare make a joke about his well-deserved and painless execution following a fair trial then you are scum of the highest order.

That about size it up, harrowup? Are you proud of your keen grasp of ethics?

Oh, and just so you can look down your nose at me, I have wanted Saddam dead ever since late 1990 when I saw photos of moms and their toddlers lying dead on the streets of Hallabjah in my chem warfare refresher class. I hope he was afraid when he died the way so many of his victims were, and I hope he's in Hell right now.
