" This is why there are so few Jews, even though they have been around so long.'
The Holocaust didn't help.
So, that means it is "G-d's Will" or in the Middle East it's "Allah's Will" that the Jews are persecuted. That makes sense.
What an excellent, eloquent answer.
I would add to the fact the Bible(Old Testament)explains the Jews as going astray from the word of God. I have noticed every time the Jews disobeyed God they would suffer for their sins. I like thinking of it as the fatted calf.
When the Jews had plenty and life was going well for them they turned their back on God, then the suffering would start again.
Forty years wondering in the desert for disobeying God should have been a good lesson, but apparently not.
Wonder if voting for democrats would count? Abortion, gay rights, anything liberal.
Not always a few. In the Roman empire, they were about ten percent of the population around the time of Christ. The Temple was the largest public building in the Roman world. The revolt in the early 2nd Century came close to toppling Roman rule in the eastern Med.
Therefore the Jews became more than wise with this lifestyle, since they were run from countries, cities over many years they became very efficient with ways to earn income.
One excellent way to become successful is to develop a lifestyle that can be easily picked up and moved...generally being a doctor, lawyer and money lender allowed that freedom. Whereas being having a living that required assets could be stressful...hard to flee a town with the assets but you can always flee with your intellect.
So over a period of time, Jews were eyed with distrust because when they would enter a a non Jewish culture, they brought their intellect, they brought "services" that could not be stolen, or destroyed. The doctors, lawyers and money lenders could easily pack up and move on, and this left communities that were stuck with one and other resentful because needed services that the Jews had brought could simply pack up and move on.
