In 1966 I had "mess duty" at Camp Pendleton, and my job was Salad Man - being as you'd take salad ingredients enough to feed a couple of thousand Marines, put your bare arms in the mix and toss it all up.
A week into my scheduled 2, I came down with Rubella - always did wonder how many Jarheads I infected.
