Precisely why a SPC4 should NEVER be allowed to talk to the media. WTF does a SPC4 know about anything higher than MAYbe company-level tactics? Very little. WTF does a SPC4 know about how many troops should be needed to do the job in Iraq? Very little.
So why is the opinion of a SCP4 matter so much to a reporter? I'll listen to the theater commander's opinions and very few outside of that one man.

It does matter and HE does matter, he is putting his life on the line everyday and he is out there, he is in the hell hole, and he has a working knowledge of what is going on!
My grandson-in-law was very severely injured Oct 2, will be a full year recovering and will never fully recover. He said we are fighting a noble cause with our hands tied.
And it is true about the Iraqis not showing up and they have never known how to fight like a real army or what it is like to fend for themselves. It is a long haul and we do need change and we do benefit from listening to a peon as well as the higher up, so do not put this peon's opinion at such a low esteem.
