I had to check to make sure this wasn't my wife's family, because she has relatives in Benton (nice little town actually).
I just think that people who own pitbulls are either wanting to project some idiot macho image or are deluding themselves that they are as safe as dachshunds.
Point in case: my wife works with a woman who runs a pitbull rescue organization. Twice this year she has had to miss work because either her husband or another family member has been injured when the dogs misbehaved. Yet, she still goes on about what loving animals they are.
Plus, they are stupid. I used to work as a manager for a guy who set up fireworks tents and stands along the gulf coast. He had a pitbull that twice attacked an employee. The dog was killed when it chased a moving semi- truck and bit into the front tire and got thrown under the other wheels. It bit into the tire deep enough to puncture it before it was thrown.
There are hundreds of dog breeds in this world. This one won't be missed.
Dogs that have bit my kids; dachshund, Akita and some wolf mix. I used to raise pitbulls/bulldogs and never had a single one that was human aggressive, now with that being said I would never trust ANY dog thats not mine. ANY dog that shows human aggression should be put down esp bulldogs because when they do attack there's a higher chance for more serious injury and death. I have one that almost 13 same as my oldest boy, best dog ever. Can't blame folks for wanting them banned though, lots of bad apples these days.
