Thanks so much for making the time to post the DOSE tonight -- AWESOME job!

PRESS CONFERENCE . . .

Ya gotta love it: If the President adopts an upbeat 'tone' about Iraq, the right/left call him deceitful or pollyannaish. If the President adopts a somber 'tone', the right/left call him defeatist or depressed . . . In keeping with the season, I say 'bah humbug' to all of them! The President will do what he has to do in the manner in which he's comfortable doing it!

[FYI: If anything, the President was probably 'abit tired today . . . In addition to his already horrific schedule, he's had to host over 25 holiday parties since Thanksgiving -- these parties require the President and First Lady to STAND for FOUR HOURS shaking hands, making smalltalk and talking pictures (mostly with people who will 'stab them in the back' the next day!). . . They'd have to put me in a straight jacket and lock me in a padded room some where after a mere week of this torture!]

If you want to know what's currently on the President's mind and heart, just click on the following link and view the video clip entitled "THE PAINFUL SIDE OF THE PRESIDENCY" (left hand side bar)

IT'S ALL (PRESIDENT) BUSH'S FAULT . . .

IRAQI ARMY MEETING RECRUITING GOAL
By Mark Noonan at 06:52 AM

This is one of those stray facts the MSM mostly doesn't pay any attention to - they much prefer, usually, to pay attention to the relentless enemy propaganda as that plays into their anti-Bush agenda. Still, facts, as Churchill pointed out, are stubborn things:

The general in charge of training the much-needed Iraq army and police said yesterday that the final target of 325,000 personnel will be met before the end of this month, with "dramatic improvement" in performance envisioned by July.

"The sooner we can give Iraqis responsibility for the security of their own country, the better off we're gong to be," said Army Lt. Gen. Martin Dempsey.

It is good to keep in mind that our leftwing critics said we'd never get the Iraqi army off the ground - that we were viewed as occupiers whom all Iraqis, regardless of political stripe, wanted ejected from their country...well, millions voting and 325,000 volunteering to fight alongside our troops gives lie to such a concept. You don't eagerly support the government brought about by an "occupation" and you don't join the army built by the "occupier". The left has a mental conviction that any time the United States goes to war, the people who fall under our control will automatically hate us so much that they'll volunteer in droves to fight us - but the truth of the matter is a bit more complex than that.

No one likes to have outsiders around in large numbers - heck, most Americans look warily upon the unarmed and non-violent illegal immigrants in this country, so you can imagine out Iraqis view the heavily armed Americans in their midst. But people aren't stupid, either. The Iraqis know full well that if we pull out too soon, then chaos really wil engult their nation, and they'll almost certainly wind up under a ruthless dictator, and/or be a mere satrapy of Tehran. Not wanting to die and be enslaved, most Iraqis seem willing to put up with quite a lot from us - and my evidence of this is the plain and simple fact that if the Iraqi nation, as a whole, was against us, we couldn't sustain ourselves at the end of a long, vulnerable supply line in Baghdad. When, pray tell, was the last time you heard of an American plane being shot down, or of an Americansupply convoy being hindered in its movements?

The critics really should sit down for a moment and think - the surge in violence is killing whom? Mostly unarmed civilians, mostly by remote-detonated bombs...this isn't the act of a growing insurgency, but the last, desperate throw of the terrorist dice, hoping that the American political system will win for them what they couldn't gain on the battlefield. The enemy knows his mark very well - he's got the Democrats entirely on board with cutting and running just in time to spare the terrorists' lives...it is a tragedy that so many in this country are so easily gulled by enemy propaganda.

So, once again, look to see what is happening, rather than what someone says is happening, or the absurdity of a 30 second televised newscast out of Iraq. What is happening, as opposed to what is being talked about, is quite encouraging.

FRANK RICH DECLARES IRAQ 'BOX OFFICE POISON!'
By Ann Coulter

. . . Well, if my plans had been implemented, the anti-war crowd would be weeping about Iraqi civilian deaths so much they wouldn't have time to pretend they gave a damn about the loss of American lives.

But the plans that were implemented have deposed a monster, put him on trial -- which resulted in his conviction and death sentence -- killed rape hobbyists Uday and Qusay, presided over three democratic elections, killed al-Zarqawi and scores of other al-Qaida leaders fighting Americans in Iraq, and kept the U.S. safe from Islamic terrorist attacks for five years now. The least I can do is not capitulate to the left's endless nagging.
