I'm looking to settle in a mountain town. I've always wanted to live in one. The ski resort towns are out of my reach but Woodland Park in Teller County looks good as the do the Fourteener towns in Chaffee County.

There's now a knee-deep snow-drift on my front door & back sliding door. Luckily, the driveway in front of the garage door is clear of snow... except for the drift that looks almost waist deep.

My neighbor was shoveling before, but he gave up when the snow just blew right back & re-accumukated just as high.

Sorry it took so long to respond--I have been doing a lot of snow clearing duties. The dogs need a way out. *smile*

A move from Southern California to a local with real winters will be quite a change! I moved from the foothills near Sacramento where snow stayed on the ground only a few hours. It looks like Fort Collins, with 23" of new snow, will be covered for quite a while.

Good luck on your move, Colorado needs more conservatives, just look at the results of the last election.

Just a word of warning from one who has been there, done that for 15 years or so in Summit and Teller Counties. Mountain living is great but check out the spring and summer temperatures first. Some mountain towns don't have Spring (just Mud Season) and only a couple of weeks of summer. I'm almost not kidding here. If you do find yourself in a mountain setting, and write this down, be sure that you have Southern exposure! You will thank me for that advice.
