Maybe my family is a bunch of freaks, but both my parents, my sister, and I all fit into that 5%.
I don't buy it. I know several friends who abstained, as well.
But I seriously doubt the number of parnters was as high for those born in the 1940s as they are today...

Same here, my parents, my three siblings and myself are part of the 5 percent.
Coincidentallly...or maybe not...the length of our marriages to date are: 57 years (parents)...siblings and myself: 32 years, 26 years, 26 years, and 24 years.
I don't know...it was culturally OK for women to like men back then. Things are tougher, now. ;)
