Generally, is the hiring of illegal aliens perceived as a positive thing by stockholders?

That is an honest question; I have no clue.

Yes, yes it is... so long as they don't get caught.

The primary goal of any corporate officer is to maximize shareholder value, barring any more specific direction. Using illegals reduces labor expenses, which serves to increase shareholder value. So unless the shareholders vote a resolution directing the board to "only hire legal workers" (either explicitly or implicitly by instruction to follow the law and act in an ethical manner), it is their duty to hire illegals.
