Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the beautiful Menorah.

DollyCali: when did you audition for Balanchine? Was this for the school or did you make it into the company as corps de ballet or apprentice? Were you a graduate of the School of American Ballet (the Company's school)?

NYCB seldom tours, but I did see them several years and ago and reviewed them. One of my friends is a retired NYCB principal dancer - she retired in the 1960's and is still in great shape and very beautiful.

I auditioned in early 60s. GB came to Cleveland. Marjorie Sherman, my teacher had made arrangements for any one who wanted to audition to participate. This was before the wonderful avenue of Email, but the word spread anyway.

It was really an rude awakening. I was pretty sheltered & GB & Maria Tallchief with him were fairly harsh & the language out of their mouths was such as I had NEVER heard before..

Looking forward to getting better acquainted with you.. Today is not a good day. Will be posting the singles thread later after my dog walk & then out for PM
