A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. "Wear Red" Friday

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Lori what a great graphic & in wonderful table. I love that pix of you.. in fact I am pretty sure it is the one I used for the FINEST group pix I posted a few weeks ago (did you see it?)

I have another thread to get up shortly(I am procrastinating)..need to yet load all pix to server. They are worked up. From DC holiday party.Started with about 800 pix.after elimating BAD/duplicate etc. got down to 280. The ones I used involved cropping, brightening, sharpening etc. Did some collages.


Aas you requested, I will ping you to thread when I get it up.


Will be the fourth this weekend. Have the regular Finest and Singles threads for this weekend, decided to post a Hanukkah thread since no one else did (since, there has been another) & they asked me to do the DC thread since I have most of pix.

Dirty Jobs

READ: Matthew 8:1-4

Jesus put out His hand and touched him. —Matthew 8:3

One TV personality seeks out the most dirty and grimy jobs he can find. Then he does those jobs on camera so we can all be grossed out.

The surprising thing that usually comes out of this excursion into grime is that the people who do these really nasty chores for a living seem happy to be doing them.

I wonder if that’s the way it is among the people of God. In the church and in the community of God’s people, there are definitely “dirty” jobs that God has called us to do.

For instance, where is the glamour in working in a homeless shelter, providing gospel hope and physical help to street people? Where is the intrinsic joy in walking into a hospital room to visit a patient who has just received awful news from the doctor? And how can it be easy to sit across the counseling room from an abused spouse and try to help her retain her dignity and piece her life back together?

Imagine how the crowds gasped when Jesus reached out and touched the leper. He was not afraid of “dirty” jobs. Jesus came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). He was “moved with compassion” for the lame, the ill, the downtrodden (Matt. 9:36). Let’s follow His lead and with love tackle the tough tasks around us. —Dave Branon

Hi, Dear (((((Billie)))))! Yes, it's a Peace Rose; they Seem to Vary in Intensity and Shades of Color from Rose to Rose. Here is Another Lovely One, a Little Different, Called 'Love and Peace Rose'

I wondered if it was in the "Peace" family, because those are the only roses I could name. :) I just never saw one with a lavendar tint - the pale yellow with pink shades I've seen many times. (My sister-in-law was a horticulturist and could GROW every kind of flower imaginable! Peonies were her favorite, but her roses were breathtaking.)

I went to a dressy party last night, not quite THAT dressy but it was fun.. then to a more casual party afterward. Had about 30 minutes between. My date waited while I freeped (had him walk the dogs, one at time! to give ME extra time at computer)

Another beautiful Christmas arrangement, and framed very simply. Sometimes less is more, huh? Not to say that it wouldn't have been just as gorgeous with more framing! :)

cant find where I posted it , but went to dominia to get it...added a few more freepers that day. I started last year with all the FReepers who responded on threads that I participated with & that I posted in particular. Didn't go WAY back to before I was a hostess however. no IDs on the graphic so people can feel hopefully secure. The day I posted it, I pinged everyone (except maggie & texas cowboy) to the graphic
