I believe Warren's Purpose Drive Life also argues that congregants who don't agree with the introduction of pop music into church services should be thrown out, also. Apparently, he believes churches should be run like McDonalds--find out what the masses want and give it to them.

Some pastors seemingly majored in marketing, looking for big bucks. They may use the gospel to line their own pockets. We are to try the spirits (and I don't mean the communion wine).

Actually, that was the chapter about "Music" in Warren's 1992 book, "The Purpose Driven Church". To be fair, he didn't suggest throwing them out, just giving them a "Take it or leave it" attitude, forcing them to leave. Otherwise, you are spot on with your assessment.

Have you read Bob DeWaay's Excellent book? "Redefining Christianity." Also Gary Gilley's "This Little Church Went To Market" and "This Little Church Stayed Home."
