This is the way the Founders intended it to be; the People's representatives make the laws!

HURRAY! Good riddance Taft, you turd.

I expect we'll see him again, as Kucinich's VP.

Oh, and from what I understand Taft was doing this for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

I think the OSP administration and the rank and file differ on the subject.

I know that as a police officer from Ohio, I am all for the Right of the people to carry and protect themselves.

If police officers are afraid of law-abiding citizens carrying guns then they need to look for another line of work.

We can now look forward to Joe Hallett in the Columbus Dispatch boo-hooing this veto override. Hallett was blaming this on the "Gun-Peddler Lobby" in an editorial last Sunday. Taft's veto was the highest item of praise from Hallett for Taft after 8 years.

Some people take high colonics...Joe Hallett writes a column praising NE Ohio, big government politics.

Put another one in the win column.

It's been a banner year.

"I only wish that Blackwell could have succeeded him to start fixing up this state......."

I'm in total agreement with you on that. A GREAT Conservative, done in by two issues only:

1) Lunatic moonbats who STILL think the 2004 election was stolen from them (somehow) by Diebold+Blackwell in Ohio

2) Taft so screwed up the state while Governor that NO Republican could win

Any bets on how soon we hear from the gun grabbers that this will result in a "bloodbath" in Ohio?

A little more detail, a bit of anti gun whining.

Of concern is the comment by the prosecutor that the Ohio Supreme Court ruling would help in challenges

I don't understand this prosecutor's reasoning at all. If the city's ban on so-called assault weapons is upheld due to there being no prohibition in state law, then this newly enacted prohibition seems to put a crimp in any future claims. Not to mention this:

B) In addition to any other relief provided, the court shall award costs and reasonable attorney fees to any person, group, or entity that prevails in a challenge to an ordinance, rule, or regulation as being in conflict with this section.

The law itself requires that any city attempting to enforce or pass their own laws PAY FOR successful legal actions to prevent them. A page from the ACLU's own play book.

WooHoo!! Great news, especially since I'm in the process of moving from Tennessee back to Ohio.

Now, to get a CCW license...

Taft governs like a Democrat, but his status as a Republican sank DeWine, Blackwell, Montgomery, and probably dozens of other decent GOPers up for election last month.

He will be remembered as one of the worst elected officials ever to grace public office here in Ohio or in America as a whole. He has forfeited his status as a Republican and forever tainted a once-great family name in American politics.

You are too easy on the current governor Taft.

Ohio's last several governors promised CCW only to renege, backpedal, and derail it after being elected.

It was and is the will of the people expressed through the state legislators that prevailed finally.
Do not forget some DEmocrats actually support the values once predominant in America.

From my NRA-ILA email alert:

Today, the State Senate voted 21-12 to sustain the override, with three Democratic Senators voting in favor of the measure.

My State Senator is Marc Dann (D) and new Attorney General. He is pro-gun and I sure hope he was one of the D's voting for the veto override.

Thank God for brave men like you, who not only protect us, but want us to be able to protect ourselves when you can't. I'm glad there are guys like you out there with the b@!!s for police work - I'm sure not one of them. I hope you retire without a scratch, and lots of good stories to tell.

I hate to disappoint you. But the U. S. Constitution makes it difficult for the Prez and the VP to be from the same state.
