I hadn't listened to Pat Metheny for years.

You don't know what you've been missing. "The Way Up" is the finest work by a jazz guitarist in decades IMHO. It's on eenormous, breathtaking composition - groundbreaking. He performs the entire piece live in concert- the best concert I've seen in a long time.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check it out and appreciate it for myself.

I would have replied sooner but I wanted to finish hearing a Weezer song called "Susanne".

The live concert for The Way Up is now out on DVD.

Also the new CD he did with Brad Mehldau is good too (although it's weird hearing Pat with a different piano player than Lyle)
