I don't deny the holocaust happened, but I wonder if six million Jews died in the holocaust. My understanding is this six million number is an estimate. Is it possible that less than six million Jews died in the holocaust?

Yes. I think the actual confirmed number I heard yesterday was nearer to 5,800,000 -- a total representing all of the victims from all the European countries involved in the holocaust. Hitler was fastidious about keeping accurate records. It's also possible that there were many more undocumented unprocessed victims, but no way to tell at this late date.

I was surprised to hear that 7 million Christians were also exterminated.
