Two thoughts:
1) she has been miffed by not being asked to be a White House speechwriter, after she took a leave of absence from the NYT to work on his campaign, and
2) she is tired of defending her support of him in (1) to her beltway/Manhattan/Hamptons friends. Maybe she got dropped from the list of desired parties, etc.

Also, she was hired by MSNBC as a commentator, so she spent entirely too much time with Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, and other Bush bashers.

Maybe she got dropped from the list of desired parties, etc. Quite plausible. Probably both l and 2. But there was definitely a decrease in the quality of her writing.
