So are you saying you didn't really want "Conservative" Texas but felt more comfortable with the liberal Texas version of what you were escaping? This is what scares me about the people fleeing California, New York, New Jersey, Mass.. they don't seek us for what we offer but for how they can change us to be more like them and what they left... makes no sense to me.

I'd say goron tried to slam me a wee bit.

Nice attempt at playing the sniper. I'm sorry, I'm a single (hetro) male entrepenuer with a lot of money saved, and I've lived everywhere from Colorado to California, Arizona and now Texas.

Let me tell you something about Arizona. I shed my Republican origins BECAUSE of Arizona. I moved to a golf community and thought it would be fun, but the soccer moms in mini-vans / SUVs; the Conservative neandrathals completely changed me.

I'm sick and tired of the Republican snobs who look down on me because I'm not enslaved by some psycho SUV driving aggressor b*tch, and so I now consider myself independent of both parties. AZ cured me by just dealing with the snobery and finding it repulsive. I make 6 figures and my vehicles are paid for, but some soccer mom b*tch is going to look down on me because I'm not her male slave?

Austin women are far more open minded than the Arizona conservative female rattle snakes, and I've learned my lesson.

Whomever is bitter about being inbred and dumb, throw off your chains of stupidity and stop labeling yourselves as 'liberal' or 'conservative' and just start being human.

You'll find there is a lot more to life than tunnel vision, and being entraped in marriage to satisfy some control issue of someone else for the sake of being above a class of people.

Put on your baggie Nixon shorts and go to the beach and stop being such a bunch of whining a$$h*les, and start enjoying life!

Sure, I'm a business owner, for lower tax rates, and abhore liberal communism, but for God's sake; please get your noses out of your a$$*s and just enjoy life.

Back to subject. Any property in Southern California pre-2001 (just before 9-11) could be had for current housing prices in the normal parts of Texas. Buyers were begging for 1500' houses to be bought for $160k in Riverside county. Now that price is doubled, and some fools bought even higher. Make no mistake; there will be a correction! Though it will be painfully slow.. we are on the downward slope of a freakish gain in real estate, and all those hanging on just better either leave or put off the greed factor and get out until the correction completes.

I remember contracting for Lucent at the height of the tech-stock boom, and these fools in upper management were so high on stock gains and cocaine that they had no clue that their stock was going to go from 65/share to where it is now; and I watched it splatter and they all were in disbelief. Many lives were ruined, and thank God in heaven I wasn't being paid in Lucent stock - like the PMs.

The home equity boom has been great for a lot of people. The equity increases have helped many entrepeneurs - including me - BUT, its just all inflation based on an environment of next to nothing interest rates, and California prop-13 stips. It takes 3 years for taxes to catch the average Californian fake-millionaire-wanna-be, and now is just about the time most of them are headed to bail screaming off the equity roller coaster.

Its just a matter of time before the smart opportunists catch the downward trend again and play those Cali fools for all they're worth - like lemmings running over the cliff following the next guy. Trouble is, when you take away wealth from an entitlement mentality, they blame others and attempt vengeance - so I predict riots, mayhem, and complete violent insanity in California once their fake equity is removed from their credit card addictions.

The Texas guy had it right; we don't want them in Texas because they will just screw up the property taxes. As far as taking a swipe at his 'accent' - bro, you sounded totally normal when I read your words, so you're telling me you're a redneck?

Onward to the California riots - its just going to take one little roll downward from the top of the hill to start the entitlers to complain and blame the 'man' for the removal of their equity nipple. Only problem is that you have millions of them addicted, and it aint gonna be pretty.

Good luck Californians! I got the hell out and love life in Austin. At least on the west side of I35 English is the main language!

Cheers!
