The key to lower health care prices is tort reform

The key to lower prices is doing less.

Tort reform is important in its own right, but it will only lead to lower prices if doctors are free to do less because they can't get sued, and they act on that freedom by doing less, EVEN THOUGH THEIR PATIENTS WANT MORE.

The major driver in my experience is that people don't WANT less - they want more, and lots of it, and for free.

With prices we are in a never ending circle, spiraling upward. Not only are premiums high, so is what you are charged at the doctors and hospitals (the cost that is paid by the health insurance). My Dad said it years ago ... Doctors are in a practice alright - practicing on you and me.

Prices in general need to be brought down. I.E., an aspirin costing $50 in a hospital. Please. But the doctors/hospitals charge it and the insurance companies pay it. And your premium rises. Answer - Reduce Prices! Greed runs cost ... getting back everything you can on your investment as fast as you can. How did we live 40, 50 even 60 years ago?

Something that may go to help this is a fairer tax system. Not an income tax, especially the one we have, but something SIMPLE, EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND FAIR. I don't know if it is the 'Flat Tax' or the 'Fair Tax' or some other plan. What ever rate is initially set at it should be low and would have to be stipulated that changing it (raising it) can only be done by a vote of the citizens and not Congress on a special ballot election.

That would be a start ... couple that with a 'Balanced Budget' amendment and a freeze on elected officials salaries until the raise is voted on by the given electorate (local and state and federal) on a special ballot election.

Just my opinion though. "If I ruled kind-a thing." [Don't worry ... ain't gonna happen in my lifetime.]
