RWI will tell you...don't get me started!
If I want to turn on my TV at ANY point during the year, I have to pay £126 or I am in violation of the law and can, (theoretically), go to jail. This occurs whether I watch BBC or a private channel.
Even if I don't have a TV, they still get some of my tax money.

How about we compile our own list and send it to the President. We can't be any less brain-dead than some in the ISG.
Here are a few to start off:
1) Hang Saddam tomorrow.
2) Take out Al-Sadr.
3) Call for a Sunni-Shia cease fire.
4) Call in air strikes and Tomahawk strikes in Iran and Syria. Tell them that strikes will continue until their soldiers are removed from Iraq.
Please add more....

He is smart in one respect.
He earns £100,000 per year for working on a channel (BBC News 24) that nobody watches.
Ain't public broadcasting grand?

Wonderful pic.
And here's a quote attributed to another Brit..

But its not just socialists here.
EVERYONE has it stuck in their head that its an honour to pay for the BBC.
The Conservative Party will possibly win the next election. And the first thing that will happen is the licence fee will go up. Mrs. Thatcher was there for 11 years and the licence went up and up....

..and FR is show prep for Rush! You know what, I have observed that too. Sometimes one of us comments on something and Rush comments on it after the next obscene-EIB-profitcenter-timeout. I am certain the folks on the other side glass monitor this thread while the show is in progress. FR is on the *real* cutting edge with EIB close behind.

Absolutely.
If he was in the Private sector, he'd be earning slightly less than the guy who does the voice-overs on the all-day "Beverly Hillbillies" station.

Ye gad and little fishies. No wonder they tax your boob tubes. I'd say the folks across the pond really need to have themselves a T(V)-party...

You will create nothing but more bureaucracy with a "Manhattan Project for new energy source"
See this crash Govt project nonsense from the Leftist forgets one really important thing. You got to develop the infrasturcture to support and use the new energy source. So you do a crash project and develop a new energy source? Guess what NO ONE can use it!
What I would suggest is you give large tax breaks to companies that convert as much of their infrastructure as possible to alternative energy or spent $ on R&D for Alternative Energy sources.
For every $1 spent either converting your office, factory, store to alternative energy or spent researching and developing alternative energy sources, you should get to write off $1 of your tax burden.
Also, the US Govt could simply start buying alternative powered vehicles. For example, the Post Office, Non Combat DOD, Corps of Engineers etc could buy x number of their vehicals each year that run on hydrogen or what ever. Then each year after that the number is x+5%. That would help enormously in developing the infrastructure to support alternative fuels
