The Left does that a lot -- a lot of liberals who "see the light" and come over to our side have said that their friends who remained liberal will no longer speak to them. Harry Stein talked about it in his book "How I joined the vast, right-wing conspiracy (and found inner peace)." Norman Podhoretz talked about it in his book "Ex Friends." David Horowitz talked about it in his book "Radical Son." Tom Wolfe has said that, at dinner parties in New York, if he mentions he voted for a Republican, he is regarded like a child molester.
