Baker deserves a hearing after rushing to FL to fight on the President's behalf against Gore.
I'll never forget the sense of relief I felt when I saw Baker on the job.
For that he deserves a hearing; but the President is not constrained to follow his advice. He will probably follow it in a couple of token areas, but will continue doing his thing on the big items.

I'll never forget the sense of relief I felt when I saw Baker on the job. I felt the same way, but his attitude toward the president and Iraq now almost cancels that out.

I'm withholding my opinion on the "study group". Not enough data. I suspect, however, it's a level of support W does need right about now and for the next two years. I also suspect, it might be quite good if the Pelosians have to deal with Jim Baker, with their predictable list of "non-negotiable demands". Dems are trying to steal victory in Afghanistan and Iraq from W and Repubs.
And they've been covering up their proposals all these years with their non-stop whining. Those plans, about to be unleashed, will need focused attention to stave off.
