The only way to prepare chicken is to assume it is contaminated. Wash the area you prepared the chicken with a mild solution of bleach and detergent. Cook it well and quit worrying about the microbes that are probably in it. When you buy bags of chicken with multiple birds in the bag you can almost bet that one of them is contaminated.

If you do this you will not get sick. If you do not do this you will get sick. Salmonella makes you sick. Heat and bleach kill salmonella. This is not rocket science.
