Bad thing: Nanny state, here we come.

I disagree. If NYC bans something based on local demography (leftists concentrated in Manhattan) and if Americans in Oklahoma can safely eat whatever the hell they want, and Californians can eat whatever tofu they want, then in my opinion, unlike Brussels or DC forcing uniformity--the Republic is still working in this small case like it's supposed to.

If the FDA had decreed it, I'd be upset.

Unfortunately, it lends credibility to stupidity and that is never a good thing for the Republic. Policy like this should always be based on sound science instead of political agendas, regardless of where you live.
