Gwen Stefani shrugs off radiation scare Music

Gwen Stefani received some jolting news this week while in Toronto to promote her sophomore solo album, 'The Sweet Escape,' due in stores next Tuesday.

The pop superstar and her baby arrived in the city from the U.K. on a British Airways jet Tuesday, and later learned that traces of radiation that recently killed a former Russian spy had been found in some of the airline's jets.

'We might have radiation too,' Stefani, 37, said with a slight grin when asked about the revelation in an interview Thursday, her last day in the city. 'No, I'm just kidding. I hope not.'

It's not the first time the front woman for ska-punk outfit No Doubt, known for her signature red lipstick and platinum-blond hair, has faced drama while trying to visit fans in Canada.

Last winter, one of the production equipment buses for her Harajuku Lovers solo tour rolled over three times while on its way to Canada. Stefani was four months pregnant at the time.

The driver was OK, said Stefani, but they couldn't salvage much of the gear.

'I was literally on the bus going, 'What are we going to do? Half of our equipment's in the snow,' ' a flawless-looking Stefani said in a chair in a hotel room while her six-month-old son, Kingston, was being watched by a nanny in a bedroom nearby.

Okay, her looks are a little different, but okay.

Is ska still popular? Was it ever popular?

Yeuch - talk about bad "Celebrity Skin"...

The sad thing is that she could have been such a looker, if she kept clean.

In the full aesthetic, her looks and vocal stylings blend distinctively.

That is Courtney Love, not Gwen Stefani. Courtney love is the nastiest skank going in the music industry.

I'm no music industry professional. I don't think ska in general is all that popular, but No Doubt's music is.

I have always liked her. For one thing she has been married for some time (first marriage) and just had their first child (what a concept). She does not bash the President (huge plus) and she just seems like a nice person. Her music is ok.

Ska's been around since the late '50s/early '60s, so it has some longevity, and yes, it has enjoyed a resurgence as of late.

Ska spawned rock steady which spawned reggae.

Why is it that the one's who lost their husbands tragically are the one's FREEPERS bash the most (Courtney and katie amonst others). I don't particularly like either one either, but I refuse to bash a widow. I wonder if FREEPERS ever lose loved ones like these ladies? It amazes me that conservatives are the worst to widows. We used to be very nice to them back in the day. I know it is a new time, but respect for them should be still the matra of the day.

OK, after that (lead singer of) Hole shot, I have to post some Gwen pictures to bring balance back to the Force:

Mrs. Stephani isn't my favorite celebrity babe in the looks department - there's something too harsh about her between the face & the hair - but she's kept care of herself a lot better than others, and it shows.

Other than the title, where does it say that the aircraft she flew on had actually ever had polonium on it? I thought these aircraft were only ones in service in flights in and out of Russia and were all subsequently grounded for cleaning.

It has absolutely nothing to do wiht her widow status, and said status in no reason to get a pass for being such a skank, which CL was before Kurt killed himself.

The distrust of the balance in reportage by Katie began long before she tragically lost her husband, so is grandfathered.

Courtney Love was a messed up drug addled idiot minor celebrity before and after her husband killed himself. (Ah, at least we think he killed himself.)

Katie Couric was a biased media hack before and after her husband died. I refuse to make fun of her public colonoscopy (sp?) - as unusual and overly-public as it was - because I think that was done out of a genuine desire to try to make salvage something good and helpful out of her personal loss.

At the end of the day, Courtney and Katie are out there in the public, parading around (for the former) a lack of values & judgment, or (for the latter) an intense hatred for Constitutional governance while sporting a thin sugary coating.

And since "FREEPERS" are about upholding values & judgment & Constitutional governance, we'll rag on them - no matter what happened to their husbands.

Huh? My Dad's funeral was this past Friday. Should that make me immune to criticism for the rest of my life?
