Sounds like a good idea to this Texan...I predict that within my Grandchildrens lives this sort of ideas may be more than just idle talk. Our country is terribly divided and may in fact not be able to put back together again in it's present form of government.
Illegals given citizenship will have dual citizenship with their homeland. Whose best interests will they vote for? The US or Mexico? I think we know that answer.
Ask Haley to run!!!!!!
If ever such a thing should come to pass, Heaven forbid, I would hope that the "seceeding" states would be sure to make sure that THEY retain the label of United States of America and maintain the same Constitution.
Once the restraining influence of those states is removed, the "rump" would quickly spiral out of control, and would likely move into direct rebellion against that supreme law of the land, thus justifying the decision to seperate.
Personally, I pray this never happens.
The question really is when is it going to happen and what issue is going to force the split/fight. This is one of the reasons why I'm not very optimistic about the future. Everyone sees the divisions and everyone realizes on some level that these divisions aren't going to be healed by "talking to each other".
I think we will see it sooner than we think
Only Texas can help us now.
You'd have the bonus pleasure of really p!ssing off the far leftists in Hollywood.
Perhaps it's time for Texas to exercise it's Senatorial option. IIRC, Texas has the right to split into 5 states. That would create 8 additional Senators. I imagine that few of them would be in favor of such a bill.
It's already moving past the stage of idle talk.
