Congress Open to Passing Bill on Immigration (Citizenship for 20 million illegals!)
The Washington Times ^ | December 4, 2006 | Charles Hurt

Posted on 12/04/2006 6:58:29 AM PST by kellynla

Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill. While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country.

In 2002 alone, the last year with figures released by the Social Security Administration, nine million W-2's with incorrect Social Security numbers landed in the suspense file, accounting for $56 billion in earnings, or about 1.5 percent of total reported wages.

Just imagine, 9 million women who got married and F O R G O T to change their names!

That's a whole lot of careless dead grandmothers suddenly appearing in the landscape at exactly the same time that the numbers of illegal aliens in the country began to climb, AND were forced to use some kind of SS number to get work.

Steven Camarota acknowledge my "bogus" claim.

Is he an open borders advocate?

We won't be holding our collective breath. `

Whether those figures are true or not is a source of debate

Specially considering the fact that you base them on what is acknowledged by all to be an unknown quantity...the number of people in the country illegally.

Here's more information for you on my "bogus" claim:

Don't sweat it Kellynla, he blew off my two posts showing that illegals cost more than they produce by far in post 502.

Any true Conservative knows that the poor are the most costly segment of society by far and true Conservatives want to help those get less taxes and to up themselves to productive middle class Americans. Unfortunately being swamped by illegals has turned the tide to a flood that can not be helped long term.

Yes it is true that illegals are dumping money into the S.S. failing system. A system that both RINO's and dims are afraid to touch. Luis goes full force with blinders on, ignoring Justice Dept figures and other negative truths. The fact of the matter is even with S.S. getting boosts, it is failing and using illegals to prop it up a few more years is just like using slave labor, except cost wise (with government programs) this ain't slave labor, it is durn costly labor.

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/3/27/114208.shtml

Prison and Welfare facts are not gonna be touched by Luis and his likes. Facts like illegals drive so bad that they are just nearly as dangerous as drunk drivers. Facts like illegals jumping out of their cars after an accident and running instead of being forced to answer to their deeds will be ignored. Facts like "Once [illegals] get here, they are 50 percent more likely to be on welfare than citizens." do not seem to phase them.

Something is not right... the Luis and Dane's have figured a way to harness that illegal in some way that profits them beyond the tax burden's placed on society. I am curious, but this is just an chat forum (durn good one) and they do liven the forum up with their views.

Thanks for posting that chart Luis. I did not know it was in limbo... I do know that being in Limbo means the illegals can challange (once they are legalised) that money in liberal court and nobody will see a dime of it that is an citizen of the US.

Not only will the illegals get away with raping our system now, the one place where they had to give back to the system will be compromised soon in the future. Just watch as see, I wish I had bookmarked the thread on FR I read about it now. It is an interesting read. The lawyers are already smelling blood.

You post numbers made up by people who base their conclusions on the numbers of illegal aliens in the country, when that number is not know.

It's estimated, but it isn't known.

There are studies that support conclusions that are diametrically opposed, and they are both researched.

What's known is this...in spite of the doom and gloom, the American economy is in great shape.

So, if nothing else is clear, tat factor is.

I just posted the transcript of a congressional hearing where this issue was explained.

Sticking your head in the sand does no change the truth of it.

I keep hearing that, but having lost the industry in our city that I worked for the past 15 years to China and South America (not it was NOT union), I have yet to realized it. This area has yet to realise it for that matter. All the new eaterys don't seem to make up for lost industry. There may be jobs, but they are low end jobs as far as I can tell.

This country is run by financial factors, and those "factors" do not allow losing investments to continue.

These "financial factors" have awoken the ones having to foot the bill, the middle class voters. They may benefit, but once American's fully catch on to what is happening. The vote may change, that is why they want them to be legalised. So they can continue to rape society and not fully foot the bill.

The oldest baby boomers turned 60 this year...79 million people were born in the US between 1946 and 1964. Those who are still alive are staring to retire, and because of advances in the field of medicine, they'll live longer than any generation before them.

We've murdered 30 million plus babies in the name of "choice" since 1970, and while our fertility rate is slightly higher than during the mid to late 1990's, we are still below replacement rate.

In a recent update of estimates prepared for the panel, Ronald Lee and Timothy Miller found that each additional immigrant with characteristics (such as age, education, and family size) typical of recent immigrants has a “net present value” of $46,000. That is, a new immigrant’s impact over the next 75 years is expected to be equivalent to a one-time investment of $46,000. But Lee and Miller estimate that the country would need to admit an additional 5 million immigrants per year, quintupling the current level of immigration, in order to achieve long-term balance in the Social Security trust fund. A recent report from the United Nations Population Division reached a similar conclusion for European countries, announcing that even much larger migration flows than are currently permitted would not counterbalance the effects of population aging.

To maintain the 2000 ratio between the working-age population (people between the ages of 20 and 64) and the older population (people ages 65 and older), the United States would need roughly 95 million more working-age persons in 2025, in addition to those already expected at current levels of immigration. In other words, if the entire working-age population of Mexico were to move to the United States in 2025, there still would not be enough people to restore the old-age dependency ratio of 2000. -- Source

These are real figures, unclouded by demagoguery and hyperbole.

If the costs associated with illegal aliens were indeed as catastrophic as everyone seems to be claiming that they are, and considering the fact that this problem has been ongoing for two decades now, we would have been bankrupt as a country by now as a result of it., but instead, we're thriving.

These supposed "costs" that you all keep coming up with seem to be impacting the economy in a positive manner, with the added benefit of keeping the SS system viable.

You don't understand how SS works. It is a pay as you go system. Any "surplus" in terms of revenue versus payments is used for other purposes and an IOU placed in the SSTF, which is part of the national debt and considered "intragovernmental holdings." Starting in FY 2008, the "surplus" starts declining and in 2017 we will be paying out more than is coming in. We will have to borrow real money to redeem the phony non-market T-bills in the SSTF.

The costs of illegals are being borne by the hospitals, educational system, penal system, and social welfare system. The cheap, exploited labor serves to depress wages at the lower end of the economic scale for American citizens. Over the past six years, the median household income has declined

Who is the Cheap Labor Lobby?
