The above is a letter I wrote to Mr Ellison about using the Quran at his swearing in. I think this totally against what our country stands for and he is starting out on a very negative note by requesting this change of not using the bible. Most Americans do not know that the version of the quran sold in the USA is a watered down version that leaves the violet and what I call evil parts of the quran. I want to know why muslims will not tell the truth about this. Our children are exposed to a watered down version that is not the TRUE quran but a version meant to deceive, is that what we would do with our Bible? No we would not because our holy and the only HOLY book is what it is. I implore everyone that agrees with me to write Mr Ellison to protest this action because if the table were turned we would niot be able to use the BIBLE in a swearing in any muslim country obviously we would never be voted in. He is clearly using our total freedom to go against the grain and I for one am totally opposed to it.

In the US all you have to do is "affirm" ~ no book of any kind is required in court or elsewhere that an oath is given.

If the guy wants to use a Koran, fine, but it'll put a bulge in his coat pocket the rest of the day and deform the threads making him look seedy before his time.

What's important is that we not allow the Quakers to require their member of Congress to also be a Quaker (hence the "no religious test" standard in the Constitution.)
