I can go along with being called anti-abortion if they would call themselves pro murder. That'll be the day. But still, some decent coverage...

............................

"Bloggers have an audience, bloggers are plugged in," said Peter A. Samuelson, president of the Americans United For Life, before about 40 people at the second annual Blogs4Life conference Monday. "We don't need a Ph.D. to know fetuses and embryos are part of our community."

The conference, hosted by the Family Research Council to coincide with the 34th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe. v. Wade decision legalizing abortion and the March for Life rally, had 80 registered guests and more than 300 watching from a live webcast.

Council President Tony Perkins said, "We're glad to add this to our arsenal of tools."

Guests, including Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., and Terry Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, talked about their pro-life agenda, which they said includes not only abortion rights but also embryonic stem cells and persons living with disabilities.

Blogger Jill Stanek told the crowd they could use the Internet to bypass the mainstream media, which she said didn't give the issue enough coverage. "I'm tired of begging MSM to listen to me, I'm going to blog on this today," she added.

Stanek showed slides and examples from her Web site to the attentive audience, highlighting pictures and sound clips that garnered a lot of attention.

Posting things online also gives viewers a chance to see the "hate of the other side" when they respond to posts, Stanek added.

The Almanac (UPI) says that.

On this day...

n 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an attempt by Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to prevent the husband of Terri Schiavo from removing her life support system. Lower court rulings said the severely brain-damaged woman was in a "persistent vegetative state."

A thought for the day: "When I tell the truth, it is not for the sake of convincing those who do not know it, but for the sake of defending those that do." William Blake said that.

The Almanac... , Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Today is Wednesday, Jan. 24, the 24th day of 2007 with 341 to follow.
