I doubt the left will be rah-rahing over this breakthrough. This development considerably lessens the left's favorite posture---that of being "victims" of right wing religious zealots

It is my long-held belief that the left could really care less about embryonic stem cells vs. adult (including all non-embryonic) stem cells. They are keeping embryonic stem cells in the public eye, and pushing them as the only real hope for mankind, for one reason and that is to provide an additional safeguard for infanticide. Their hope has been to create in the public's mind that ESC research is the panacea for every imaginable malady and that to "improve lives" it's necessary to murder embryos. To that end, any evidence to the contrary is either discredited or totally ignored.

Harrumph. If the left is successful in carving up all the surplus babies for stem cells, there won't be any babies left to eat!!
