Raptor bait. Heck our legacy fighters with BVR missiles will destroy them.

The Su-30MK2 is a naval attack aircraft for coastal control. It is also easy prey for our aircraft.

Rockets to Iran. Planes to Venezuela.

When did the Cold War end again?

Sweet!

It will be easier to target Russian made planes than our own F-16s. No ambiguity there eh?

Coolness.

Are these, perchance, fully equipped, state of the art SU-30 fighters, with the same weapons and equipment package as the ones the Russians use?

Looks like a good opportunity for us to get our hands on a pristine sample, to gauge its capabilities first-hand.

Interesting analysis on this in this war nerd column here http://www.exile.ru/2006-October-06/venezuela_enchilada_of_evil.html

To summarize it says it's Chavez attempting to create an air force loyal to him, than to US defence contractors.

They're not capable of a damn thing unless they've got pilots trained to use them. What will be the quality of their pilots compared to the USAF?

How long before they're all smoking holes in the jungle or piles of scrap in the junkyard?

Russian-made fighters will substitute American F-16 and French Mirage fighters currently deployed by the Venezuelan air force.

Didn't know we were supplying jets to Chavez. Didn't know they had any pilots. Who's doing the maintence, Juan or Pedro?

Anyway, I'd bet one Raptor could take out their entire airforce in about 10 minutes.
