Lee Camp, a Lipscomb University theologian, said this:

We have such short historical (memory) spans as white Christians," he said. "There is a history of anti-Semitism, the violence and bloodshed of the crusades and cultural imperialism. We have to deal with the reality of what Christians have done, which in some cases has been to kill people."

Camp described himself as a conservative Christian but conceded his opinions may be viewed as "radical" by other evangelical Christians.

Christians must shed the idea that they need to promulgate a worldwide Christianity, he said.

When he talked about the "violence and bloodshed of the crusades and cultural imperialism," he conveniently ignored the essential history of the Crusades and what brought them about.

Mohamed (may pig shit be upon him) and his similarly bloody minded followers conquered the entire Mideast and the Judeo-Christian holy places. By the beginning of the eleventh century western Christendom had emerged far enough from the Dark Ages that it was able to mount a necessary military response to that Muslim physical, religious, and cultural imperialism. The Crusaders of the First Crusade definitely disgraced many Christian principles and perpetrated some inexcusable massacres. However, the fact remains that it and the subsequent Crusades were primarily to restore the Mideastern holy places to their rightful possessors, not even to reconvert the Muslims.
