Jackson Calls For Entertainment Industry N-Word Ban Initiative Spurred By Michael Richards' Racial Rant
POSTED: 4:07 pm EST November 27, 2006 LOS ANGELES -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson is calling on the entertainment industry to stop using the racial slur that Michael Richards used against hecklers in a Los Angeles comedy club.
Jackson and others told reporters Monday that they'll meet with television networks, film companies and musicians to talk about the n-word.
Jackson is also asking the public not to buy a DVD box set of the seventh season of "Seinfeld." The set was released last week, the same week that former Seinfeld star Richards was videotaped unleashing a racist rant against the black hecklers.
Richards had made several apologies, including one Sunday on Jackson's syndicated radio show. He has said he's not a racist, and that he was motivated by anger.
A comedian attending Monday's news conference, Paul Mooney, said he's used the n-word numerous times during stand-up performances, but that he'll no longer do so after watching Richards' rant.

Jackson's ride is almost over; if we retire the N-word, we can safely use the J-word until everybody catches on.

Not really.
Lots of everyday, middle class blacks use the word frequently in conversation. Its a word deeply embedded in black culture.
There used to be an unwritten rule among black people-you never use the word around whites. That custom ended years ago.
I do think whites use it a lot less, even among themselves. When I was growing up,whites used it often and very casually. Now it is seen as the sign of a very ignorant, trashy sort of white person.

I still sub in the hood and I have basically given up on squashing the word because it is like holding the tide back with a teacup.
Kids would constantly come up to me later and say,"Mr. Riverman, don't be tripping, man. We don't use the word like Y'all do"
So whatever.....

But, what exactly IS the so-called "N-word"? No one in the article quoted it!!!!

Speaking of Jesse Jackson, the proud papa of a child with a woman who was not his wife, and "leader" of the "Rainbow Coalition" that encompasses EVERY color of the Rainbow, just so long as it's BLACK. Who won the hearts of Jewish voters everywhere, when he referred to New York as "Hymie Town", during his failed Democratic presidential campaign.
Well, as as outraged by Richards racist rant as he is, this fellow racist hypocrite and former Black Panther leader admitted during an interview published in a November,1969 'Life' article that he used to enjoy spitting into the food of white customers, when he worked as a waiter in Greenville, South Carolina.
A July 1972 article in the New York Times stated, quote, "Jesse would spit into their soup or salad before he brought it to the table, and watch with enjoyment as whites ate gobs of saliva as though it were, say, oil and vinegar dressing."
When he was a teenager, he would often make degrading jokes of white people. A former classmate and friend, Horace Nash, said, quote, "He made up foolish jokes about whites, about how stupid they were. He used to turn things around, and he actually looked down on white people."
As far as I know this black racist Democrat has never apologized or been asked to do so.
But it appears he reserves his worst treatment for fellow blacks, who are Conservatives. When Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, a black Conservative, attempted to speak at the Los Angeles Trade Bureau Forum, this man of the cloth was physically attacked, and verbally assaulted by Jesse Jackson and his supporters with among other things, a Bill Clinton holy blessing: "Suck my d**k, you stupid n*gger. Shut the f*ck up, and get your black *ss out of here, n*gger!"
Here we have a famous black and his black friends said to have used the ENWURD, not a some endearing form of greeting by a fellow black (the reason so many say it's ok for blacks to use it) but as a racial insult meant to hurt and degrade, just like Richards did.
And yet this blatant racism received little media attention, no apology, and no outrage, particularly by those who now only criticize Richards.

The n-word is not a meaningless word. It's a word with extreme negative connotations and should not be used by ANYONE. I wonder where it originated and what it actually means? Do you know?

You mean I gotta read a whole book to find out the meaning and origination of one damn word? LOL, changed my mind, I don't give a rip.

I know that you're going to bring up . . . And what makes you so sure I was going to bring anything up? I simply asked a question and then stated never mind I didn't give a rip. You needn't be so defensive and everyone does not have to agree with you.

A comedian attending Monday's news conference, Paul Mooney, said he's used the n-word numerous times during stand-up performances, but that he'll no longer do so after watching Richards' rant. Ya, sure. Without the "N" word, this guy doesn't have an act --- which I guess is not much different than the Richards racist clown without the Kramer gig.
Check out Mooney's official agency site In the first paragraph, ... "I say N***er 100 times every morning; it makes my teeth white.
Ya sure --- he's going to stop that (and the Rev Jessi along with the Easter Bunny are taking time off from their busy extortion business to check and make sure this Mooney does not utter the dreaded n-word ever again.
In other news, Santa said today that their will be plenty of X-boxes for all good children -- as long as they don't say the n-word.

How long did it take for Je$$ie to call upon rappers to stop using the N-word? While he's at it, why doesn't he call upon them to stop using the F-word, too? For some reason they have been inoffensive to him until now.
I may have to buy the Seinfield dvds just as an anti-boycott.

Banning words gives them too much power.
